Pieak Saloon - เปี๊ยกซาลอน

Mr. Pieak opened the shop around 29 years ago and had previously worked in various hair salons around Bangkok. The salon is tucked away in the left corner of the now-closed Queen Plaza Theater. Built in the 1950s, it was originally part of a larger selection of movie theaters in the previously posh Wang Burapha neighbourhood, which was the epicenter of nightlife in Bangkok for decades. When the cinemas closed down, the area transformed into an amulet market and later mostly into different restaurants and a large parking lot.

The salon has a light green exterior, and the logo was originally made by an art student from the nearby Pohchang Academy of Arts. It ended up becoming a fusion between Elvis and Farrah Fawcett since they couldn't agree. Pieak later spiced up the logo with lipstick and large eyebrows. The salon was highly popular in its early years, and most of Mr. Pieak's clients have been with him from the start. Nowadays, a lot has changed in the surrounding area. Unfortunately, the building has become slightly dilapidated, which is also reflected in Pieak's customer base. There are fewer customers, and they simply prefer more classic and simple styles. "People are just rushing through life without experimenting."

The interior used to be all blue, but Pieak decided a year ago to change the look and paint a large tree since he loves botany. One of his regular customers asked why there were no flowers on the tree. So he started to add one, then one more, and on Valentine's Day, he went all in and added fourteen colorful flowers.
