Summit - เอก ผ้านอก

Mr. Soi opened his first shop 24 years ago and had five shops at his peak, but due to increasing rent and various new competitors, his empire has now shrunk to one shop. He has always specialized in pure, natural cotton and used to drive around Bangkok on his beloved Vespa doing fabric wholesale. He’s is one of the few people with Thai/Chinese descent selling textiles in Phahurat also known as Little India. He was originally born in Bangkok, but his parents migrated to Thailand by boat 80 years ago. Cultural differences can occasionally cause friction, but he generally has a good relationship with his neighbors.

The mall is around 70 years old and hasn't been renovated for years, which creates problems especially during the monsoon season when the shop gets partly flooded. This keeps many from visiting the elderly plaza. Soi is now getting help from his son, Mr. Ate, and has therefore introduced a new system. The various textiles are now marked with either an "S" for Soi or an "A" for Ate in order to separate sales. Despite the new initiatives, his son is unfortunately not interested in taking over the shop.

Most of his spare time is now being spent on crosswords, mainly the classic ones, but he also enjoys combining words in order to create new terms and expressions that can be used as company names or perhaps a new fashion brand. The name "Summit" was also his idea since he aims for the sky.
